SPECIAL
REPORT "What You Should Know If You Have Been Involved In A Car Accident" Thank
you for reading this report, Did you know one of the most stressful aspects of
living in modern life is dealing with the problems that arise after an auto
accident? Were you also aware that some auto accident injuries are hidden and
seldom detected for months or even years? As a result, a lot of accident victims
settle their case with the insurance companies before getting evaluated from a
Doctor trained in soft tissue injuries. This Could Be A Big Mistake. Why?, Because once you settle your case you
loose the right to get treatment if you need it! A good rule of thumb is to get educated in your
rights, then make a decision. There is no reason to rush to settle your case, it can only hurt
you (but it always helps them!) It is our position that if you were indeed injured, you should get the care you need to get you back to the way you felt and functioned just before the accident. Now, it is not the responsibility of the insurance company to pay for anything more than that. They are not responsible for pre-existing injuries; only the injuries sustained from accident. Remember though that if your neck gets injured in an accident there are aspects of that injury that will show up immediately and other aspects of it that will show up in a year or even 5, 10, 15 years. You have to get the care you need NOW to minimize the 5, 10, 15 year aspects of the injuries you sustained. Even if you are just sore, you should get checked out immediately. ("Just Sore" is a HUGE indicator that hidden injuries did in fact occur in the accident) Many people experience pain, numbness, headaches, muscle stiffness, fatigue, and other problems including arthritis many months down the road. There is an idea used among insurance companies when you are trying to settle a claim that the longer you waited to get to a doctor the less you are hurt and the less money you deserve. If you wait 35 days to seek chiropractic or medical care then the insurance company will often take the position that you were never hurt at all but that some "marketer" (code word for scumbag law firm from Dallas) bought your accident report from the police and convinced you to get medical treatment so you and the lawyer could make a buck! Most people don't know that this kind of scam is going on but it does and if someone shows up at your doorstep or calls you acting like "your" lawyer and you know you haven't hired a lawyer - WATCH OUT! Those groups will run up tens of thousands of dollars in medical expenses, making it impossible for you to ever settle your case with the insurance company. Look for legitimate attorneys and doctors of your own choosing, ask your friends. Make sense? Remember, Nothing is more important than your health when you start to lose it.
Here's where the problem often begins... Most people who suffer from an auto accident have one thing on their mind: Their
Automobile! Common questions include: "Who
is going to fix my car?" "What
will I drive in the mean time?" "Will
my insurance rates go up?" "Who is going to pay for all this? And
the last thing on their mind is: "Am I Really O.K.?" Not only are auto accidents an inconvenience and a
hassle, a common general complaint of auto accident victims is that they don't
feel "their normal self". You may also be experiencing obvious pains and symptoms like muscle stiffness or spasm, neck pain, headaches, numbness and tingling, back pain, difficulty sleeping, irritability, memory loss, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and many other difficulties or worse than that, you may be injured and feel nothing at all. Either way, did you know that auto accidents can
cause post traumatic osteoarthritis? Osteoarthritis can ruin your posture
(giving you a slumped or hump back appearance). Osteoarthritis can cause the discs in your spine to
degenerate and accident injuries can also create scar tissue formation leading to chronic stiffness and the
inability to move properly. When this happens, simple tasks like turning your
neck become painful and almost impossible. As
a matter of fact... Most Doctors Are Not Trained In The Detection Of These Hidden Injuries... How are these hidden injuries detected? If you have been in an auto accident, you need a
doctor that is trained in the biomechanics of the human body; someone who treats
these injuries every day. That means that he or she can perform orthopedic and
neurological tests as well as other functional tests that can assess soft tissue
damage, muscle strength, range of motion, and joint and nerve function. In addition, x-rays can be taken to find out if there
has been any structural damage. My name is Dr. Charles R. Dixon. I evaluate and treat auto accident victims, and make any appropriate referrals to other health care providers when necessary; including orthopedists, neurologists, physical therapists, massage therapists, and MRI centers. I have been treating Auto Accident patients since Feb. 2001. A few years ago we expanded the clinic and brought in one of the latest and most advanced non-surgical treatments for bulging, herniated, or degenerative discs of the low back and neck - The Triton DTS Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression System. Our Primary Responsibility Is
Giving You The Care
You Need, If You Need It, Unfortunately, there are people who seek treatment
who are not injured for the sake of financial gain. If you are one of those
people, please do not call our office. There are also people who are injured who aren't
getting the care they need. If you are injured call us, usually we can help you.
You will not be treated for months on end without progress, we will refer you
somewhere else if we can't help you. We want you to get better and
back to your life as soon as possible! The Chandler Auto Accident and Injury Treatment Center is located right on Hwy 31 across from the US Post Office. We have 5 treatment rooms and our own very large parking lot to help make sure your treatment gets started as soon as you arrive for your appointments. If you work late, you can arrange an after hours
evaluation and treatment if that is necessary for you to get the care you need.
Don't wait, the Insurance Companies work really hard to be sure you don't get
any settlement if you wait to long to make a claim. Dr. Dixon has treated a ton of auto accident victims over the years, many of them felt just like your probably feeling right now. We are staffed with the friendliest people you could ever meet who are all trained in handling all aspects of your treatment. We want to make sure that... Your rights are protected and
your injuries If you have been in an auto accident recently, there
are some important decisions you have to make and if I were you, I'd take these
decisions very seriously. Q: Should I See An Attorney Before I See Dr. Dixon? A: Getting
a personal injury Attorney to help you may or may not be necessary. Whatever you
do though DO NOT give statements to any insurance company right after your
accident! YOU
CAN NEVER, EVER TRUST ANY INSURANCE COMPANY (EVEN YOUR OWN) WHEN IT COMES TO
YOUR INJURY CLAIM. It is important to get checked out by
the doctor, that way the findings from your exam will allow you the information
you need in order to decide if an attorney is necessary. If you would like, we can refer you to several reputable and
qualified personal injury attorneys that specialize in this type thing, then if
you like, you can choose the one that you are comfortable with after they have
evaluated your case. Plus
it usually helps the attorney to know the extent of your injuries so that
he or she can correctly evaluate your case. Q: What If My
Car Sustained Only Minor Damage? A: Documented studies done by Charles Carroll, M.D.,
Paul McAtee, M.D. and Lee Riley, M.D. revealed that: "The amount of damage to the automobile bears little relation to the force applied to the cervical spine (neck) of the occupants." In other words, the damage to the passengers is not necessarily directly related to the damage to the vehicle. It's probably wise to wait several weeks after your
injury before you settle your case. If
by that time you are still feeling fine, then you go from there with your
decision. Once you settle, your on your own and the other guys insurance no
longer has to pay for anything EVER. Q: If I Need
Treatment For This Injury, Do I Have To Pay For It Myself? A: NO, not usually. If the wreck is not your fault, the “at fault” persons insurance will pay for the care and treatment of your injuries - but only after you sign off and the case is over. If the wreck was your fault you still don’t usually have to pay out of pocket! We are all supposed to have "PIP" or "Med Pay" on our auto policy, that covers a lot of medical treatment (2,500-10,000 dollars worth.) The only way you do not have PIP or Med-Pay is if you signed a waiver specifically refusing it. In the event the accident was not your fault and another party is liable, after we have evaluated your accident report, our office will provide care "on credit" until your able to settle your case. In the event that you have no PIP or Med-Pay we do require that you be represented by an attorney in this type case, please allow us to refer you to a reputable attorney that won't drop your case midstream and leave you out in the cold - believe me some of them do it all the time but they will sue me if I tell you so I just have to tell you some I have seen treat people right over the 10+ years I have been doing this! All car insurance policies have what is called
"Med Pay" or “PIP” (personal injury protection). You
still might not have it though because if you were pushing for the cheapest rate
the agent may have had you sign a waiver and drop it from your policy. Having
PIP or Med-Pay means that your medical bills will be paid at 100%
up to a certain limit (usually 2,500 to 10,000).
We can assist you in obtaining this information.
Using your Med Pay or PIP will NOT raise your
premiums. Q: The
Insurance Company Has Been Calling Me And Wants To Settle, What Should I Do? A: Do not sign
or settle
until you have had someone you trust evaluate your injury for you.
If you settle before your injury is fully resolved, you will be completely on your own and will have to pay out of pocket for your
care. The
exception is that your PIP or Med Pay carrier will usually still pay for your
care but sometimes they use the paper you signed that says your ok to deny
payment for future medical care. Q: I've Been To The Hospital And My Medical Doctor, Do I Really Need to See Dr. Dixon? A: You need a doctor that focuses in the treatment and
diagnosis of auto accident injuries. Usually hospitals will look for broken
bones or life threatening injuries and release the patient with pain relief
medication. They normally do not treat the underlying sprains and strains
or the improper musculoskeletal biomechanics that can and often do lead to
future pain and disability. If you are still having problems, you should get a
second opinion. If your M.D. has given you pills, you must understand
that pills do not correct structural or soft tissue damage.
There are special therapies and rehabilitation programs designed for
that, and we offer these treatments at our office. Q: Does Your
Care Hurt? A:
Most
of the time the treatment is painless and the patient leaves our office feeling
much better than when they came in. Most
patients can hardly wait to get their next appointment. Q: Is The Care
safe? A: Yes, extremely safe. Particularly when compared to the side effects from all medications. Did you know that according to the New England Journal of Medicine when a person takes 5,000 NSAID pills (Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) in his/her lifetime he/she has 6.6 times the normal risk of kidney failure. It makes a lot more sense to get the problems fixed rather than covering up the symptoms and running the risk of being on kidney dialysis. _______________________________________________ You
